Ashton R. James is based in Austin, Texas and focuses his practice on eminent domain and real estate matters. Mr. James has experience representing clients in both the transactional and litigation aspects of eminent domain, including right-of-way acquisition and condemnation proceedings.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. James served as an Assistant Attorney General representing the Texas Department of Transportation, where he worked on eminent domain matters on behalf of the State. He has also represented both condemnors and landowners in eminent domain proceedings, providing him with a well-rounded perspective on the acquisition process.

Mr. James regularly assists pipelines, public utilities and transit authorities with the drafting and negotiation of easements, fee acquisitions, and purchase agreements, and has experience negotiating commercial leases.
